Syrian Doctor Conducts Heart Valve Replacement without Surgery in Paris

Paris,(SANA)_The Syrian Doctor Wassim al-Khoury has conducted heart valve replacement in a 96-year old French lady in the first kind of operation worldwide.

Al-Khoury said that the operation was conducted using catheter without surgery, opening the heart or general anesthetization.

Al-Khoury is a Professor of Cardiac Surgery and the Head of Cardiac Surgery Department at the American Hospital of Paris.He holds a patent in this type of cardiac valve.

The surgeon Wassim Khoury was born in Swaida, southern Syria, and got the secondary school certificate. Then he studied medicine at Damascus university.

After graduation he traveled to Paris to specialize in heart surgery where he established a center for heart surgery there. Currently, he serves as head of the cardio-thoracic surgery at the US hospital.
